Visions of The MiddleVerse

Vision Music

In The MiddleVerse, Vision Music is a powerful and enigmatic phenomenon that transcends the boundaries of ordinary experience. These Visions, capable of revealing past events with stunning clarity or, in rare cases, offering glimpses of possible futures, are deeply woven into the cultural and spiritual fabric of various civilisations across its countless galaxy. While visions can be triggered by different means, the most vivid and potent ones are almost always induced by the music of certain Houses - music that resonates with the deepest layers of the cosmos and the soul.

The Power of Vision Music

The music that causes these Visions is no ordinary sound. It is the product of civilisations that have long understood the profound connections between the physical and the metaphysical, the material, and the spiritual. Houses such as the House of Abraxas, the House of Leo, the House of Selvans and Cephas have perfected their musical traditions over many millennia, crafting compositions that are not just heard but felt on an intrinsic level. These Houses recognise that music is more than a mere art form. It is a fundamental expression of the cosmos itself, a manifestation of the primal vibrations that brought stars, planets and life into being.

When the right combination of music and listener or participant is achieved, Visions occur. These are immersive, all-encompassing experiences that are indistinguishable from reality while they are happening. These Visions are so vivid that those experiencing them often struggle to differentiate them from their waking life. They might find themselves witnessing events from the distant past, experiencing them as though they were physically present, with all the sensory details and emotional intensity that such moments carry.

For example, a musician from the Viridios, a solar system known for its deep planetary forests and spiritual practices, might be playing an ancient melody on a harp made from the wood of the sacred Caldan Trees. As the notes resonate through the air, the musician might suddenly find themselves transported to the Devasa System at the far end of the galaxy, witnessing the grand construction of the monumental Cawr stone cities that define that galactic region. They might see the massive statues being carved from entire mountainsides, feel the vibrations of gigantic Cawrian hammers and chisels, whilst hearing the chants of the Cawrian stoneworkers as they shaped their landscape into a reflection of their civilisation's history.

The Role of Imagination and the Ever Present Knowledge

Most Visions, no matter how powerful, are not merely passive experiences. They are often a collaborative creation between the inherent power of the music and the imagination of the listener or musician. This interaction can unlock what some independent scholars in The MiddleVerse refer to as "The Ever Present Knowledge" - an innate reservoir of understanding that lies dormant within all sentient beings. Under the influence of the Music, this knowledge can surface, offering insights, solutions and ideas that might otherwise remain forever hidden.

In this way, some of The MiddleVerse's most significant technological breakthroughs have been born. A Dangun scientist might listen to the harmonic echoes of an Abraxian Symphony and suddenly have a Vision where they are shown a complex machine or a new energy source. The experience proving itself to be so powerful and real that when they return to their normal state, they are able to recall every detail with perfect clarity, as though they had always known how to build or utilize such technology. This is how the Abraxian Temporal Harmoniser, a device capable of stabilizing rifts in spacetime, was conceived - during a Vision induced by the haunting music of the House of Cephas - the extinct aquatic species from the Okun System.

The Intergalactic Nature of Visions

One of the most fascinating aspects of Vision Music in The MiddleVerse is its ability to transcend not just time but space as well. A being in one part of the firmament can experience a Vision related to events in a completely different star system, separated by unimaginable distances. The intergalactic nature of Vision Music underscores the deep interconnectedness of all things in The MiddleVerse is the concept that is central to the scholars and philosophies of the allied Houses, particularly the House of Abraxas.

For instance, a Pantheran traveller from the Dionys System might be resting in the dense jungles of planet Sundara, when he hears the mournful call of its native birds. The sound, combined with the ambient music of the jungle, triggers a Vision of an ancient battlefield on the distant Devasa System, where the towering Cawr once clashed in a war that shaped the fate of their home world. The traveller might witness the entire battle, feeling the ground shake with each giant’s step, hearing the clash of their weapons, whilst sensing the intense emotions of its participant combatants. When the Vision ends, the traveller carries with him not just the memory of what he witnessed but also a profound understanding of the events and their significance.

Artistic Inspiration and the Search for Visions

Countless artists, across The MiddleVerse, are particularly drawn to the Visions caused by Music, seeking it as a source of inspiration for their work. The experience of a Vision, with its intense emotions, vivid imagery and deep spiritual insights, provides a wellspring of creativity that many MiddleVersian artists find invaluable. Some of the most beautiful and profound works of art in circulation today, amongst the most prominent Houses, are the direct result of Vision Music experiences.

One of the most famous examples is the Golden Starweaver Tapestry of the Abraxian Line of Pallas, a massive artwork woven from threads of purest stardust, depicting the history of Abraxian Culture as seen through the eyes of an artist who experienced a series of Visions over the course of several months. Each section of the tapestry tells a different story - some from the distant past, others from possible futures - woven together into a single, cohesive narrative thread that has been studied by Abraxian historians, philosophers and thinkers for generations.

A Spiritual Awakening

For the House of Abraxas, Music Visions are not just experiences to be sought after for their artistic or technological benefits; they are seen as "A Spiritual Awakening" or Remembrance, according to Abraxian philosophy. Vision Music allows individuals to reconnect with the eternal truths of The MiddleVerse - truths that have been forgotten or obscured by the inexorable passage of time. Through these Visions, one can remember their place in the grand tapestry of existence, their connection to all living beings and their role in the ongoing History of MiddleVersian history.

The Legacy of Musical Visions

In The MiddleVerse, music is more than a form of entertainment or a means of artistic expression. It is, undoubtedly, a profound cosmic force that is capable of unlocking the deepest secrets of the cosmos, connecting beings across vast distances, as well as revealing truths that have been lost to time. Musical Visions, in particular, stand as a testament to the power of sound and imagination, capable of bridging the gap between the physical and the spiritual, the past and the future, the individual and all that was,  is and ever will be.

Whether inspiring new technologies, guiding the creation of timeless art or offering a glimpse into the hidden workings of The MiddleVerse, Musical Visions remains one of the most mysterious and revered phenomena in the cosmos. It is a reminder that within the sounds and rhythms of music lies the potential to unlock the boundless knowledge of the Multiverse, patiently awaiting to be discovered.
